The ultimate aim for this project was to create a series of animated videos concerning therapy for adults during family divorce.
Illustration styles were experimented with; the challenge was to produce enough artwork within the time frame. For this reason, the illustrations kept getting simpler (and therefore more time-efficient to produce) in order to meet the delivery deadline.
Unfortunately, the client cancelled the work before production commenced.
Simple animation tests were also run via AfterAffects.
A sketch of a child cuddling a teddy bear. Showing children in a negative state of emotion had to be portrayed carefully.
The original colour scheme (muted and gentle) against the more vibrant final colour scheme assigned to the project.
First illustration test of the fictional coastal town of Clove Regis.
Clove Regis in its assigned colour palette - much more punchy and eye-catching. Illustrations show a graduation from high detail to low detail.
Experimentation with and without lines.
Experimentation with AfterEffects texture.
Variations in visual style for a child character.
An illustration of a mother and child - in two versions, one showing high detail, and another simplified.
A painterly experimentation for a child's room / setting, and a digital treatment of a living room with a maritime theme.
Stop-motion tests for potential character facial expressions and environment animation.
